The Renegades will play at Kemper Arena this season in the Champions Professional Indoor Football League, which has 10 teams around the Midwest. The Renegades' website says: "The cream of the crop will be invited to training camp, starting February 26th. The in-season 25-man roster will be determined at the end of training camp."
So that means players who make the squad are the cream of the cream! The team launched the Renegades in September. Team owner Jeremy Ploeger said at the time that he planned to successfully replace the Kansas City Brigade (the last arena football team in Kansas City) by focusing on fan satisfaction. He said the Brigade was thinking too big. "When they went to the Sprint Center, they priced [fans] out. The highest ticket was a hundred bucks; the cheapest ticket was $18. And you missed the tailgating. It cost you $20 to park, and you had to walk to it."
By contrast, the Renegades are playing in the much smaller Kemper, offering free parking and a money-back guarantee for fans. The fist day of the season is March 17.
