The Kansas City Royals are still undefeated in Spring Training

Can the Royals topple the Tigers this year?

That feeling, that little itch, next to your heart. That's hope, Kansas City. You probably don't want to admit that you feel it. You've had that tickle before, and it all too recently ended in heartache. But the Chiefs' recent flurry of moves (including yesterday's restructuring of Tyson Jackson's contract to free up cap room and keep him) in conjunction with the Royals' start to Spring Training is likely why you've got that warm spot of possibility under your shirt.

The Royals are undefeated through 11 games. After tying their first contest, they've won the last 10 times that they've stepped on the diamond. Half of that amount would have been enough to discuss what's happening.

In 2012, six of the 10 playoff teams had winning records in Spring Training. In 2010, the Giants had the best record in the Cactus League. All they did was win the World Series. (To be fair, the 2011 Twins, which dominated the Grapefruit League, finished dead last in the AL Central.) The world got back on track with last year's Cactus League champs, the Oakland Athletics, winning the AL West.

We've actually been here before. The Royals had the best Spring Training record in 1999 and couldn't make it to .500 in the regular season. But nobody on this team was on that team; half of them were in middle school. So, take a moment to look next to your heart. Do you feel hopeful?
