Marise Barrett found dead a day after her 70th birthday party; police investigate her death as a homicide

Marise Barrett celebrated her 70th birthday on Saturday. On Sunday, the woman's husband found her body, launching a homicide investigation.

Barrett's husband discovered the woman's body in their home in the 4400 block of East 33rd Street and called police around 11:16 a.m. Sunday. Barrett's cause of death hasn't been released, but police are investigating her death as a homicide. If you have information about her death, call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.

The homicide total is now 21 in Kansas City, Missouri, for 2013. Kansas City police have solved nine of this year's homicides.
