The Kansas City Police Department's St. Patrick's Day DUI checkpoint on Southwest Trafficway just south of 39th Street netted just a fewer suspected drunk drivers than last year. Police arrested 27 drivers of the 1,127 cars they stopped betweet 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. Last year the checkpoint picked up 31.

KMBC Channel 9 says police also picked up five motorists for driving with a suspended license, cited four drivers for other offenses, and six people for possession of marijuana.
