  • KC's dropout rate: First, the good news

    Last June, the Kansas City, Missouri, School District had to report a dismal 42 percent dropout rate to Missouri's Department of Education. This year, District officials plan to report a dropout rate of 10 to 12 percent -- a huge improvement for the 2008-2009 school year.That's the good news.     According to a Newsweek "Web Exclusive," the magazine has ranked Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, in the Kansas City, Missouri, School District, 128th out of 1,500 public high schools in the nation.  This is just the latest drop in a well-deserved shower of praise for Lincoln Prep.
