  • Grumpy sports commentators lose platforms

By DAVID MARTINMiddle-aged white guys who cover sports in Kansas City are getting harder to find.Earlier this year, Fox 4 sportscaster Frank Boal stepped away from Crunch Time, the 810-WHB radio show he hosted with Dave Stewart (pictured). Jeffrey Flanagan's Page 2 column appeared in The Kansas City Star for the last time on November 8, a casualty of McClatchy Co. downsizing. Last week, Crunch Time disappeared altogether. And today comes word that Jack Harry's 38 Sports Spot will no longer run o

  • Stealing Time: Midtown Miscreant wants to slap a smarmy street racer

This mugshot is of wannabe street racer Edward Tseona. Independence Police charged the 18-year-old with first-degree involuntary manslaughter in the I-70 crash that killed Greg Hawley Saturday. Tseona lost control of his BMW while racing another car and slammed into Hawley's pickup truck. Midtown Miscreant lists Tseona's many, many prior driving offenses ... and isn't impressed with his clothing choices. Clip: "Best I can tell he is a self entitled little prick who robbed the Hawleys of a loved

  • Mike Shanahan new Chiefs coach ... or not

Yesterday, KSHB's gravely voiced sports anchor, Jack Harry, reported that former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan might be sending Herm Edwards to the unemployment line as soon as tomorrow. NFL.com's Adam Schefter murdered the rumor. "As of mid-day Thursday, the Chiefs and Shanahan haven't had any contact," Schefter wrote. "None. Zero. Zip. Nada."Meanwhile, Edwards twists in the hot air.Hat tip to Arrowhead Pride.

  • Chiefs hire Haley; Jack Harry wrong

Todd HaleyIt's a bad Friday morning for KSHB's Jack Harry. Harry's admittedly unconfirmed big scoop was wrong, wrong, wrong. Mike Shanahan is not the next coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kansas City Star says the Chiefs have hired Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley.Haley's Cardinals made it to the Super Bowl but lost. The Chiefs haven't confirmed the hire yet, but ESPN's Chris Mortensen says Haley is taking the job. Here's the blog talk:Arrowhead Addict: Breaking: Haley-Chie

  • Oversharing Royals legend George Brett apologizes for diarrhea of the mouth

Fun-loving, pants-crapping oversharer George Brett has apologized for cussing out Kevin Kietzman Roger Twibell, Dave Stewart and Jack Harry, which is a good thing because we know that Harry has an attitude problem. Unfortunately, Brett has yet to apologize for those golfing pants.
