In my story this week, I mistakenly reported that Leonard Peltier, the Native American activist convicted of killing two FBI agents in 1975, is imprisoned at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth. I was corrected by volunteers with KOLA, described on their Web site as "a grassroots human rights organization that was founded in September 1987 on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, South Dakota."Though I feel bad about the mistake, KOLA folks tell me it's a common error.
