The (International) Noise Conspiracy is celebrating 10 years in the music business with a new album. The Cross of My Calling (currently streaming in its entirety on MySpace) is the Swedish punk rockers’ second LP to be produced by Rick Rubin and is due November 25 on Burning Heart Records. Crowd goes nutser. Especially my side, stage left, so Neil Diamond smiles big and heads toward us, much to the chagrin of the people sitting center stage, or stage right, or stage-band's-asses, who all redoubled their appreciation. Suddenly, I understood.
Joaquin Phoenix -- of Gladiator and Walk the Line fame -- has for a long time talked of retirement from acting. As it turns out, he has a backup career in the works ... as a rapper. The London Times reported this week that Phoenix has already given a few performances. The article also includes a recent picture of Phoenix with dark glasses and a small forest of unruly facial hair, making him look like a slimmer version of Rick Rubin.
