  Since the Appleseed Cast began its journey 13 years ago, many a band has come and gone treading similar waters of spacey, delay-soaked guitar rock. Though occasionally lapsing into periods of pause, the Lawrence band will once again emerge from the foggy forests when its new album, Sagarmatha hits the streets February 17. Initially rumored to be an instrumental album, the nine-song disc does feature some vocals, but as per tradition they're buried underneath pummeling drums and canyon reverb

  Ladies and gentlemen, the wheat has been separated from the chaff, the cream has been skimmed from the top, and the nominees for the 2009 Pitch Music Awards have been chosen.   Remember when we mentioned that 72 Musicians director Bob Moczydlowsky was prepping a live album to go along with the film's release? It came sooner than we thought. • Old Canes Sign With Saddle Creek

  Lawrence's Old Canes--the side project of Appleseed Cast frontman Chris Crisci--announced that they have signed to Omaha's Saddle Creek. Their follow-up to 2004's Early Morning Hymns is entitled Feral Harmonic and will be released on October 20. There's a tracklisting at Aversion. How awesome is this?
