  • The Download: New Mobius Band EP

Last year, the Mobius Band gave its fans something to celebrate on Valentine's Day with its free covers EP, Love Will Reign Supreme. Apparently, the Brooklyn outfit is looking to make it a tradition, including renditions of Kanye West and the Dixie Chicks this time around. Download Empire of Love below, along with last year's V-Day mix, but a word of advice from the band: "Any girl worth her salt will prefer a good mix to a box of chocolates and flowers anyway. And put Bowie's "Modern Love"

They will be joined on two separate legs by Kiss Kiss and Ninja Gun. Fake Problems recently made an appearance on Fuel TV's Daily Habit (one song of which is below) and did an amazing live session on Daytrotter.com and in similar fashi

  • A love story by Brandon Phillips

Honestly, now -- who could deny a marriage proposal from that guy? RocknRollDating.com is like Match.com for people who don't want to sift through all the cubicle stiffs in the quest for a real, live rocker boy or girl. Now, I'm pretty sure Architects frontman did not meet his wife through the Web site, but the story of their engagement does appear there. In a March 1 entry to RocknRollDating.com's Dates from Hell blog, Phillips relays the the tale of how he officially secured his woman's hear

Looking to ease into some KC blues this weekend -- and maybe a purple silk shirt, too? On Friday night, the Hideout (6948 North Oak Trafficway, 816-468-0050) hosts the J.D. Summers Band. Led by Jordan D'Ray Summers, a 29-year-old guitarist, keyboard player and vocalist, this band boasts a solid party song lineup. There are so many things coming out that interest someone, I feel obligated to mention most of them. So, rather than have this post be two pages long, I'll group them by genre, and give them a couple sentences each. If something you think is worthwhile got ignored, drop a message in the comments. • This week's "Best of Fat City": The Best of Everything

The American Dream, in the 1950s, was to have the best of everything -- it was even the title of a 1959 movie! And guess what, people still want the best of everything, even in a difficult economic climate. And, damn it, that's what The Pitch wants you to have, providing lots and lots of enticing suggestions in this week's annual Best of Kansas City issue. Naturally, in Fat City, we're most concerned with the culinary choices offered in the issue, both the choices selected by The
