What to do this groundhog weekend? Stay home! Put your feet in hot water, wrap in a blanket, watch the frost accumulate on your TV screen and/or spouse! Be amazed by The Marvelous Crooning Child.
Submit a mix to the Pitch Ultra Music Awesome Fuckin' Oh-My-God-That-Beat-Rocks-My-Nuts! DJ Contest
Or go to show. Here are some -- but by no means all -- shows we didn't get to cover in print.
Friday
Record Bar: White Whale, Boo and Boo Too and Ad Astra Per Aspera play a benefit for Jaydoc, who, I'm guessing, is Murdock's nephew, who is also Holwin' Mad, but it's because he has, like, a very sad and tragic chronic disease. Or it might be a KU community health clinic.
The Brick: Joel Kraft and Truckstop Honeymoon find out which is better, kooky poppy or kooky folky. (They decide both are good and also that they should call their mothers more often.)
Davey's Uptown: Red Line Chemistry , mixes up explosive modern rock concoctions and throws them ... well, OK, if it's a rock concoction, that's like a metaphor, so, where do they throw it? Into the toilet of ANGST! That's where, bitch!
Saturday
The Brick: Sterling Witt is an artist and singer-songwriter who has been myspacing my personal account to be my friend all week. Sterling, go here. Play a good show, buddy. (With the ACBs and Apteka)
The Hangout: FeelSexy with Miles Bonny (When "feel sexy" is two words, it means you don't actually have to feel sexy while you're there -- that's just the name of the event. You can actually just feel like you always do: self-conscious and increasingly drunk.)
Mike's Tavern: Shaking Tree's farewell KC show. So, not a good night to heckle them.
