One of our favorite Saturday traditions is getting fucked up. Oh, we can still wake up around noon, one, whenever, brew a pot of coffee and turn on 89.3 KCUR, but once Cyprus Avenue is over, we'll hear ... what?
For three four and a half years, KCUR's Sonic Spectrum, on from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, has brought hip, modern and classic underground music to the KC airwaves. Its host, Robert Moore, is leaving the station. After a few weeks of archived episodes, Sonic Spectrum will be going with him.
Moore had been with the station for 12 years, lately working as music director as well as Spectrum host. He's been active in the local music scene, too, starting up a label and booking shows. He says he hopes to find another outlet to continue Sonic Spectrum -- could be another station, a podcast, syndication, etc.
Sonic Spectrum with commercials? We'd still tune in.

Sonic Spectrum is on the web as a podcast and now on 96.5 FM. Check out Present Magazine to listen to the Sonic Spectrum podcast. There are already a shit load of them up. I think they put one up like every Wednesday? You can also here it at 96.5 the Buzz on Saturdays from 6-8pm. http://965thebuzz.com/pages/91...
Thank goodness! Maybe they'll replace that spot on Saturday with something I can actually listen to. Now if they would just get rid of that HORRIBLE Cypress Avenue, too.
The best thing of all - now I won't have to listen to him on Up To Date, either. What a bore.
very sad. i loved this show...even when he played stuff i didnt like/know. i just loved hearing new stuff and how robert described the music...this show will be missed
i liked most of his show, found a lot of great artists, but no worries, 90.7 plays all this stuff 24 hours a day! 89.3 needs to play stuff like sonic spectrum did for more than just 2 hours a week anyway, while sun night's new age stuff, praire home, and fish fry are awesome, their music programming is otherwise weak. My pledge money goes to 90.7 not 89.3, oh boy , another hour of car talk! thanks
good luck with the future robert, enjoyed your show, thank you.
Sonic Spectrum was, in my opinion, the best local radio show Kansas City has had in many years. Robert Moore brought new, interesting music to the ears of listeners. I will miss his show.
the first 2 comments are worthless.
it's a great show. was. is. hopefully, will be...
in the near future.

I bet the two anonymous punks are in shitty local bands and Robert didn't play their cds.
Moore never used the word "seminal". That's Bill Shapiro. Get your facts straight before you rip someone anoymously in public, fucking coward.
Oh no! What a shame that KCUR listeners wont get to be incessantly lectured on some seminal rock band that its assumed youre too stupid to have ever heard of. I like the music, but have to reach for the dial every time Robert Moore the Monotone Man comes on. Bleh. Glad its going away.
