What Deaner Was Talking About

According to the band’s Web site, Ween “looks forward to blowing up your eardrums and dicking you over with our music.” Gene and Dean Ween of course are referring to LP11, La Cucaracha, which will be released next week. Download the first single, “Your Party,” courtesy of Stereogum.

Apparently Ween’s idea of a party entails cheesy 80’s saxophone. Count us in. If you’re bored at your cubicle, fire up Ween Radio, broadcasting 24 hours a day.

Da Funk

If you’ve been dying to see Daft Punk’s robot odyssey, Electroma, it’s being released on DVD in the UK this week. No word on an American street date, but here’s the preview.

Short Circuit 3 it ain’t.

The French house duo’s Alive 2007 is scheduled for worldwide release next month. Stream “Too Long/Steam Machine” at Daft Punk's MySpace page.

Knives Out

On November 5, Brooklyn’s Grizzly Bear is dropping the Friend EP, an 11-track collection of odds and ends including renditions of “Knife” from Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox and A Band of Horses. Blogs Are for Dogs has posted the opening track, which features Beirut’s Zach Condon and the Dirty Projectors.

Deal or No Deal

According to a recent post on NME , Kim Deal isn’t down for a new Pixies album and it’s been over a year since we’ve gotten an update on the Breeders’ next one, which is being produced by Steve Albini. Luckily, Frank Black’s been working overtime. (Thanks, You Ain't No Picasso.)

Ten Years After

We’ve been waiting for Portishead’s third LP for over a decade now. What's a few more months (years?)? Producer and multi-instrumentalist Geoff Barrow made a cryptic announcement on the band’s blog over the weekend, saying, “We have finished the work in Bristol. This album has been like watching Lost, a never-ending journey with very few answers.” Let’s hope they get it out there before season four starts.

Good Vibrations

Cleveland's Aloha returns in December with Light Works, an EP of slower material. The band plans on releasing LP5 in Spring 2008. Song courtesy Stereogum.

Also due next year is Nada Surf’s Lucky. The NYC band’s fifth album will include guest appearances from Ben Gibbard, Ed Harcourt and the Long Winters’ frontman John Roderick. Thanks to Indie Blog Heaven for the first single.
