Man, how to choose! Springtime brings out all the best in Kansas City.

Cheer up, sons, your new seven-inch comes out today! The Dactyls celebrate the release of their new single Friday night at Love Garden, with friend and DJ Miles Bonny. Admission is free.

Down the street and over a block, the Breeders play with Colour Revolt at the Bottleneck. The show costs $16. This year is sounding awfully good for the Breeders, who are as enchanting as always.

Another release show, this time at the Brick: The Sexy Accident debuts its new CD tonight, with opener Namelessnumberheadman. What is the sexy accident? Death by autoerotic asphyxiation? A very slippery banana peel left on the floor? A man’s trousers pulled down to reveal heart-print boxer shorts? We like to think it looks something like Edward Gorey’s “The Curious Sofa,” but we encourage your best guesses.

And R.E.O. Speedwagon, the same night, at Ameristar? Where are we, NEW YORK CITY?

Saturday KC's Musique Collective presents the Coolout, an all-day dance party at the Madrigall featuring records, congas, massage and babes, because, and we quote, "eff it, why not." The event runs from 3:45 to 8:45; entry costs a dollar. A whole fucking dollar. A Coca-Cola costs more than that. Even RC Cola costs more than that. Just go, already.

Saturday night It’s Over plays at the brand-new Crosstown Station, with the ACBs and the Abracadabras. Who invited the old dude? Just kidding.

This Sunday Red Guitar plays the Record Bar, with Abigail Murphy, the Zach Heath and Fairbanks.

Also on Sunday night, the Afterparty plays with Hot Dog Skeletons at Fred P. Ott’s on the Plaza. Again, we're baffled. What’s a hot dog skeleton? That sounds like a terrible surprise. No, seriously, eat mozzarella sticks, enjoy some lo-fi romance, and watch the Johnson County folks beeline toward the door.
