John McCain is floundering. Worse yet, his rallies struggle to find the correct music. The Foo Fighters, Heart, John Mellencamp, Van Halen, Gretchen Peter and even the demographically appropriate Frankie Valli have all asked the Republican candidates to stop playing their music at McCain/Palin rallies.
So what to do? Awkward silence does not fire up the base, while songs in the public domain, such as “Hail! Hail! The Gang’s All Here” or “My Gal Sal!” are unlikely to fire a crowd into a nativist rage.
Happily, Hank Williams Jr. — who, apparently, is still alive — penned a new tune for the McCain campaign, as his previously unreleased work for the Bush-04’ campaign (“Are You Ready For Some Torture!”) is probably inappropriate for today’s GOP standard-bearer.
Here’s a clip of the very real song, with analysis of the song’s lyrics after the jump.
"McCain - Palin Tradition"
By Hank Williams Jr.
VERSE #1
The left wing liberal media have
Always been a real close knit family
(Ed note: Remarkable admission by Mr. Williams Jr. and the McCain campaign. Are they ceding the family value issues to the Democrats? Further, let's point out that I do consider my brethren in the Democratic Party as a tight-knit family. Although not Katrina Vanden Heuvel or Rep. Stephanie Herseth. My thoughts toward those family members would be, by definition, incestuous. That said, I do want Al Franken to visit or call me more often.)
But, most of the American People
Don't believe em anyway ya see
(Ed. note: Not true, as indicated by any poll numbers published by any news organization. A side note: when the GOP and Fox News can no longer describe themselves as representing "real Americans" after a massive blowout, can we call them foreign and unpatriotic when they criticize a President Obama in these troubled times? Why does Sean Hannity undermine us in the War on Terror and why does he hate America?)
Stop and think it over
Before you make your decision
If they smell something
They're gonna come down strong
(Ed. note: Now, do Democrats govern by a sense of smell? That would make Barney Frank either a komodo dragon or in the first trimester of pregnancy, or both. Which strangely makes sense.)
It's a McCain - Palin tradition.
Now this old Union's got problems
That is plain to see
(Ed. note: A very surprising admission to hear from a GOP rally, putting the singer in the vast majority of Americans who think America is "on the wrong track." One could argue those who believe we are on the right track have no need for "money," "jobs" or "food," but McCain has already alienated Paris Hilton, thereby discrediting this theory.)
The Democrats bankrupted Fannie Mae 'n Freddie Mac
Just like 1, 2, 3
(If they did bankrupt them, the correct order would be 3, 2, 1. But I'm being pedantic.)
The bankers didn't want to make all those bad loans,
But Bill Clinton said you got to
(Ed. note: This doesn't make any sense at all. Lenders didn't want to make all those bad loans, but a former President — years after leaving office — required them to lend? I mean, I'm all for hyperbole in song lyrics, but I have to say that some simple understanding of the dynamics of the lending marketplace should be mandatory for any aspiring songwriter. Paul Simon didn't become an expert in the commercial paper market or the LIBOR rate by accident, you know.)
Now they want a bail out, what I'm talking about
Is a Democrat liberal who do
(Ed. note: Please note that not only did Congressional Democrats and Obama reluctantly support a bailout, but so did John McCain, a Republican Treasury Secretary and President Bush, who also helped bring the Socialist Revolution to our shores. So, in fact, did every CNBC analyst, whose political ideology went from "government is the problem and not the solution" to "please help us, daddy" in just three weeks.)
CHORUS:
John 'n Sarah tell ya
Just what they think
(Ed. note: Yes, they do, as long as they don't have to answer questions and as long as you don't pay attention to sentence structure.)
And they're not gonna blink
(Ed note: Not true. Have you seen John McCain at a debate? Dude blinks more than a meth addict with a dry contact lens.)
And they're gonna fix this country
'Cause they're just like you 'n ole Hank
(Ed: What's with the "'n" stuff? Are Republicans are now against spelling out the word A-N-D because that would be elitist?)
Yes John is a maverick
And Sarah fixed Alaska's broken condition
(Ed: What also helped Alaska's "broken condition?" A massive increase in revenue caused by a commodity price spike and massive governmental intervention that resulted from same. Oh, and also earmarks . Lots and lots of earmarks.)
They're gonna do just fine
We're headed for better times
(Ed: As opposed to the Dark Days of The Bush Administration, which has nothing to do with anything. Stop living in the past, my friends. And by that, I mean stop living in the present.)
It's a McCain - Palin tradition
VERSE #2
I am very proud of America's name
But no society is perfect
And we have had our stains
(Ed: I'm tired of radicals like Hank Williams, Jr. admitting that America has stains. What stains is he referring to? I mean, according to Rush Limbaugh, Gitmo is like a resort and Abu Grahib was like a fraternity prank. I believe Williams and many conservatives might be referring to What They Believe Is The Worst Thing To Happen To The Republic, which involved Monica Lewinsky, the stains of which were not taken to the dry cleaners for removal.)
If I'm down at the coffee shop and
Somebody wants to give our flag friction
We say please move on
Cause we're standing strong
That's an old John McCain tradition
(Ed: I've drank at numerous coffee shops and no one has ever attempted to rub up against an American flag repeatedly. That's just gross.)
(REPEAT CHORUS)
VERSE #3
Some are bound to tell you I'm
Preaching to the choir
And that is very true
(Ed: Shocking self-awareness from Hank, Jr. here. Yes, you are preaching to the choir — a bitter, angry, bloodthristy, paranoid choir.)
And we are going even higher
Like a mama bear in Idaho
She'll protect your family's condition
(Ed: Like a mama bear in Idaho, Sarah Palin does not think well on her feet. Unlike a mama bear in Alaska, Sarah Palin will not be shot from a helicopter with a high-powered rifle.)
If you mess with her cubs
She's gonna take off the gloves
It's an American female tradition
(Ed: A bear in Idaho will give birth one or two children in a litter, which, much like Palin’s granddaughter, will all also be born out of wedlock after events which never, ever may be described or interpreted as a choice.)
REPEAT CHORUS
Showing 1-24 of 24
I can't believe a fan of Hank W. Jr. would bother trying to defend that Hank does not embrace strong racial bias. LOL. It doesn't deminish his musical talent any (I do enjoy his music, and I'm not even a country music fan). The guy just has some strongly implied white Southern biased views on racial issues. Denying that is like denying the sun produces light, it's pretty obvious and hardly worth debating. I think it would be hard to imagine HWJ at ease in an ethnically mixed social enviorment. Like at a pool party at the home of one of his non-white friend's.
Who is Hank Jr.?

Wow russ thats pretty impressive, quite an impressive analogy you gave us there. Do people like you laugh at shit like that, but like i said before you live up to your standards of trying to make ken, shevon and myself seem stupid but you see it's not gonna workO and that was good Ken about Russ and Broke Back Mountain thats the most truthful thing that has been said throughout this entire messageSo let me get this straight you didn't see Saddam as a threat??? WTF did you just expect someone else to take care of him... And now do you honestly think that the Iraqi government is strong enough to take control by themselves. The answer is no.. and your right this War may be a little too far strung out but now that we have come this far we may as well stay untill they can fend for themselves and govern themselves otherwise this whole thing would be pointless.O and I like the fact that you didn't deny any of my assumptions about the type of person you are which gives Ken, Shevon and myself the satisfaction that we are in fact arguing with a stereotypical democrat who is trying to take our guns away.I'm not gonna lie and I have said it earlier you are a smart guy Russ, however your "educated" answers and analogies will not get people like Ken, Shevon and myself to change our ways and believe against what true Americans are supposed to believe in.
So I'm sure you will have another perfectly thought out response to all this so good luck
I always knew hank Jr. was an "ASSHOLE" but now I know he's a bigger one then I thought
I always knew hank Jr. was an "ASSHOLE" but now I know he's a bigger one then I thought
Well, Russ you really got us there. Yeah, your right the bullshit keeps getting deeper. There's no denial here, just a matter of strong opinion, which you critiqued good ole Shevon,Shane and myself on. Deceptions/Lies, no where to found. There are many facts to our post, many opinions, and we do have the right to free speech like you Russ, We do have the right to our own opinion Russ. You've made more false accusations about the "GOOD OLE BOYS", and displayed more negativity than the three of us together, so why don't crawl back in the saddle an go back to "BROKE BACK MOUNTAIN",where you belong!
This is a textbook example of how our leader's actions can directly spread iniquity around among the people. Dick Cheney and the Bush Administration, on the run up to the Iraq war, planted some propaganda in the New York Times. Then, DICK used that article to support his claims of Sadaam Hussein's complicity in WMD, because, his "evidence" alone would not suffice.
Now I've got all three of you, Larry, Curly and Moe, endorsing each other's posts, reinforcing your own self righteousness, hoping to have it appear as though, "The people have spoken. Long live TRUTH, LIBERTY AND THE AMERICAN WAY."--Just like DICK Cheney.
Right from the start I have been consistent in my assertions that you are either ingnorant, or aware of the facts, and manipulating them with unintended or intended deceptions/lies. I pointed this out to you, yet every time one of you sends another post, the bullshit gets worse, and the denial stronger.
I can explain it to you like this: When I tell you the truth, that represents a positive. When you take the truth, and put a deceptive spin on it, knowingly or unknowingly, that represents a negative. Meaning, if you multiply my truths with your deceptions, you get a larger negative number as the posts increase, DESPITE the fact that I am telling the TRUTH, because when you multiply a positive with a negative, you ALWAYS get a negative number. The LONGER I argue with you three, the more NEGATIVES are created, and they take the form of denial, confusion, and lack of PROGRESS. What you are doing RETARDS PROGRESS, and I am contributing to this by staying involved. In other words, this is not the avenue in which you will learn anything meaningful. You will have to learn these things in other ways, through life, and probably a lot of years. Good luck.
Russell
Shevon, and Shane, you both are both righ, very well spoken an for you Russ, well ,let's just say i didn't know this was grammar school, in fact i never said i was highly educated, nor did i say i was a Republican. Where did i ever say what party I belong to,,,,let's see "NEVER"!!!!!!!! So, you see Russ, that just explained it all, your a fcking "HIPPOCRIT"!!!! I am living the turmoil of losing my fcking job being moved to other countries, my wife has as well, so yeah I do have a hardon for all politicians. I don't believe a fcking thing they say, an yes our problems in this country are to be blamed on both republicans and democrats. So, what if my punctuation isn't correct, you don't like it,KISS MY REDNECK ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's see hiow fast we have change no matter who is elected. You want change, get a life. Don't try and sit behind your computor and try to play the phsycology bullshit. If you were so fckin smart you would be runnin for president. It's alot easier to blame everyone else. To sit in that chair an bash good ole Hank JR. really takes alot of thought,to sit back and bash a college student,to sit back and bash a uneducated blue collar worker about his punctuation, which I knew you would be grading me on i would hv speled rong tu,BICH!! Wake up Russ it's not about being racist, let it go that shit is old school. people like you are the ones keeping it alive.WE are all equall, and I am going to stand behind proudly whoever get's elected, i'm not going to base my decision on a song, but obviously you will. Wow,how shallow can you get there Russ, well,i'm going to leave it at that cause all "MY ROWDY FRIENDS ARE COMIN OVER"!!!!!!!!!!!

AMEN Shane, Finnally somone with some sanity. I have to agree with you 100%... couldn't have said it better myself. Glad to see that there are other people on the same page as myself.
I love the truth in your statement about Russ hopping in his beamer and heading back to his fancy mansion... because you're right we don't need his kind.
This arguement is somewhat worthless for the sake of the never ending battle on which party is correct. But for the sake of HANK Williams Jr. (who by the way deserves your respect for what he has accomplished) I have to ask how can you, Russel, say you are a former Hank Williams Jr. fan and bash him nowl. And correct me if i am wrong, but I bet you grew up as a city boy wishing you could experience the things that HANK talks about. I'm not gonna say he is the greatest alive, but there are definitely a great amount of his songs that are very well written. For example, "Country Boy Can Survive" is an obvious example of the life of a simple person who lives outside the city limits. I don't see how you can bash on HANK for "Practicing What He Preaches" cause if thats the case then why don't we all (Shevon, Ken and myself) bash you for being the kind of person that we all despise. I bet your a political activist against guns too which makes us wish you weren't around as well.
We can all see that you obviously have not developed a proper sense of manners to respect HANK that all of us "quintessential white southern Republicans" got from our parents and from growing up in the country and as HANK puts it "living off the land."
And i see that you are very well with words and use many paragraphs to make yourself seem smarter and to try and degrade people like Shevon, Ken, and myself. Truth is we don't need you or anyone else like you for that matter so hop back in your BMW and drive to your fancy mansion, and sit back and realize how much you really don't know what HANK really writes about!!!!!
O, and as far as the war in Iraq goes and the "Genocide of a million innocent Iraqis," perhaps you have forgotten who we went there to get....hmm does SADDAM ring any bells... Who by the way was responsible for many more responsible deaths than this Iraqi War.
So you obviously cannot see that to get rid of a tyrant there is a price to pay and answer this question for me: Where would the world be if Saddam was still in it and controlling Iraq? I'll be waiting for your bullshit Democratic answer!!!!
Thats nice Russ, attack puncuation when it has nothing to actually do with the message being conveyed, nice move. Your nice little strategy is called an Ad Hominem... just incase you didn't know it. And by the way, its a fallacy.. which of course as you know is innefective to say the least. Also, I have quckly recognized that you are one to use the red herring fallacy... that to is ineffective Russ, sorry. Bottom line, if you are going to aregue something, try to avoid faulty reasoning... you might not sound so ignorant, just a tip.
You made me laugh a few times in that last attack you had against me...
I mean, you say "How does that work, you're from Ohio and attend college in Florida"?
Let me dumb it down for you Russ, I get in my car at the end of the summer and drive 1k miles south to Florida. Then I return after the school year is out. Pretty simple huh?
Still I'm not seeing any of Hanks lyrics as racist, maybe I'm just blind Russ. Maybe you could point out a few specific examples for me. Hanks not racist, you want racist lyrics, then you listen to David Allan Coe.
Anyways, I'm done arguing with you Russ, people like you are too hard headed to ever be open to anything anyone else has to say. So for the sake of the arguement, lets just say you won buddy... I cant compete with your vast array of knowledege or high level of intelligence anymore.... or vast amount of time to waste typing away on a pointless blog ( As a I have already partially found myself shamefully doing) ; ) Cheers Russy
Ken buddy!
Where have you been? You're so DIFFERENT from all the other Republicans who debate on the internet! Actually, you're quite similar. You base your arguments on false comparisons and an ignorance of the facts. You live in a hermetically sealed bubble that lets only a certain percentage of the truth in. That's a kind way of saying you've got your head up your caboose. Or, maybe you're not so ignorant--maybe you know just what you are doing--which makes what you're doing evil.
Now, you tell me: why should I let you sap my strength by debunking every single wrong assumption of yours in your little post that contains 355 words and a conspicuous lack of PERIODS? What the fukk? It's like you're flaunting your IGNORANCE! But, then again, why not? It's a formidable foe--YOUR IGNORANCE. It allows you to RETARD PROGRESS, when practiced by large numbers. It's POTENT, AND EFFECTIVE.
So, what I will do is respond to a couple of your all over the map deductions, so as to give you the respect of ACKNOWLEDGING your post while limiting your ability to wear me down.
You're right. Clinton signed the Free Trade Agreement. "Free Trade" means the rich and powerful can FREELY rob and pillage from the poor OF EVERY COUNTRY, RACE AND RELIGION. That means people like HANK exploiting people like YOU. But you're too blind to see it. It's like when they say they're fighting for FREEDOM. The FREEDOM to walk over everyone's HUMAN and ECONOMIC RIGHTS.
But let's get one thing straight: you can't blame CLINTON for what BUSH, OR MCCAIN OR RANDALL WILLIAMS does. Clinton has been described as being more conservative than NIXON. That's right, the man who paved the way for the presidential ABUSES of DUBYA and his administration was less conservative than CLINTON. ALSO, if Clinton was not as conservative as he was, he WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ELECTED, because things are plainly moving dramatically to the right, to the point where you've got the most dramatic and largescale transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class to the RICH in HISTORY, yet Randall Williams is filmed on Fox news calling Obama's tax plan "socialism," because it transfers the wealth of the rich to the middle class and poor, JUST LIKE DUBYA'S POLICIES TRANSFERED IT TO THE RICH. And let us not forget, the DEREGULATION KING, MCCAIN, being part of the free market yahoos who put us in a position of having to BAIL OUT THE RICH ON WALL STREET. You know what another term for BAILOUT is? CORPORATE WELFARE! SOCIALISM.
Like I said, there were many false assumptions in your short punctuationless post, but they're all just like the ones I DEBUNKED. Good luck with that BATTLE WITH REALITY you're fighting.
Russell
wow, russell you accuse him of not believing in democracy, freedom of speech or respect for different opinions...from what you write that describes you. damn your really took it personal, an i take it you are some what educated, maybe or maybe you just have so much time on your hands that you took the time to look all that info up, where's his right to opinion, free speech, respect for different opinion. i don't see that you do. who the hell put you here on this earth to judge others for there opinion, yoiu crack on good ole hank jr an say use to be a fan till you realized his songs and views are racist. wake up "puss" errrr i mean russ. what you call your views can be called racist to some to or should i say hippocrit. everyone is predjudice to some extent. and as for a legend yeah good ole hank jr is a legend,,,,of his own time. and come on to say republicans cheated, grow up, democrats made a poor choice for there canidate, the former president even said it. you say change, just what do you think any of them are gonna change,i'll tell you if you believe they are going to bring change you need to wake up,it's just not the last 8 years of a republican president it goes back even further than that,oh let's seewho signed that free trade agreement, damn where are those jobs that were promised to be created, the wonderful welfare reform, shit you obviosly haven't had to endure losing your fucking job to mexico, brazil, france, china. do you really think the change they are talking about will stop all our jobs from leaving the united states of america, no they just want to raise the terrifs, hell that isn't going to stop it look at the millions of dollars these corporations are making, what's a few more dollars. these politicians should be evangalist not in the white house!!!!!!!and for you i hope you are making some money for wasting my time for even reading and reponding to your post, an this from a uneducated, blue collar auto worker from"OHIO". thanks assmonkey i mean russell.
Russell,
Disregard my above post. Some of the text did not make it.

Ohio...hmmm. That state rings a bell. Ah, yes! The state where the Republicans cheated during the 2004 election. As Jewell says in her cover of the also racist song, "Sweet Home, Alabama.", "being southern is a state of mind." Jewell is from Alaska. Go figure, a girl from our NORTHERNMOST state is actually a SOUTHERNER, at heart.

You tell me why your friends don't realize that your hero, Hack, is a pro-slavery racist. You tell me how I was a FAN of Hack's for many, many years before I woke up?

I told you I was a FAN of his. I LIKED listening to his music, despite the fact that he sings like a dying cow on half his songs, and some of his lyrics seem to be written by a two year old. The reason I stopped being a fan is not because I suddenly decided he SUCKED as a country music performer. The reason I stopped being a fan was because he is POLITICALLY AND CULTURALLY DANGEROUS. Actually, the fact that I put up with his politics for so long is a testament not only to his likability as a country music entertainer, but also to his ability to influence people to support beliefs that are so diametrically opposed to their core.

Let me get this straight. You're a NORTHERNER, and you actually LIVE and GO TO SCHOOL in the SOUTH? HOW COULD THIS BE? Don't you know we're fighting the CIVIL WAR? Oh, and on the subject of the great state of FLORIDA. I'm having a real hard time believing that Florida is a bastion of racial diversity. And, we wouldn't be having this argument if the REPUBLICANS hadn't JACKED the election in 2000, setting into motion a series of events that included the GENOCIDE of a MILLION INNOCENT IRAQIS, MOSTLY WOMEN AND CHILDREN, and for what? WMD? FREEDOM? DEMOCRACY? I don't think so. Try OIL, SELLING OFF THE IRAQI INFRASTRUCTURE, THE SHOCK AND AWE CAMPAIGN TO TERRORIZE THE IRAQI PEOPLE INTO PACIFISM, TORTURE, POPULARITY WITH THE FRIGHTENED AMERICAN PUBLIC TO SECURE A PERMANENT REPUBLICAN MAJORITY, THE LEAST TRANSPARENT ADMINISTRATION IN HISTORY, THE MOST HATED AND INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT IN WORLD HISTORY, THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON, ETC.
<<<<
Well, first of all, the title to the song CLEARLY implies that Hank thinks white southerners woulda had it made if slavery was not abolished, due to losing the civil war. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt. It's living and breathing inside of you. It doesn't help that Hank sings this song with more emotion, gusto and clear sentiment than any other song he's ever recorded. Trust me, I have heard just about every song he's recorded. The whole song reeks of fascist politics, and, the south that Hank dreams of in this song is NOT an America with the Constitution that I believe in. It couldn't possibly be. Now check this out: "We'd put Florida on the right track cause, we'd take Miami back"--take Miama back from the CUBANS, Shevon buddy! Now check this out: "I'd have all the cars made in the Carolina's, And I'd ban all the ones made in China."--China? Are you sure you mean China, Hank? Cause CHINA doesn't import cars to America. Never has. Did you mean, Japan, or South Korea, or some other ASIAN country? What's that you say, Hank? They're all the same? And they all look the same? Oh, I see what you're saying. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!
You know, racism can be communicated with a glance, a gesture, a code word. In these modern times, racists have had to be more subtle when publicly expressing their LOVES. But Hank doesn't bother with this song. He lets it all HANG OUT!
<<<<
As far as I'm concerned, slavery was all the reason we needed.
<<<<
No, to be truthful, I don't. I just am wisely wary of it, and I don't buy the pride, heritage, tradition excuse. The worst thing about 1860s America was SLAVERY, and the civil war ENDED it. Why wouldn't the WHOLE WORLD view the confederate flag the same way they view the swastika?
<<<<
Actually, I don't automatically view any of the above as racist, save certain "merchandise." It sounds like you're assuming things based on my cultural beliefs. I know I didn't say anything on this forum to suggest what you are suggesting. That's bigoted.
<<<<
You know, that might just be the problem. You might be a racist who doesn't know it, DESPITE your high IQ. It sounds incredible, but stranger things are happening.
<<<<
That was a typo. You ever heard of that down in your Florida university? Or, maybe you're right. It might be a Freudian slip; a combination of Shevon and Chevron--you know, one of your political party's sacred cows.? Do people really LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL? PEOPLE DO.

WMD? FREEDOM?

PEOPLE DO.
Russell
Russell,
Where I come from huh...
"The quintessential ignorant white southern Republican", you say. Well I guess, I'm a white southern Republican that's from the North... Ohio thats is.
HACK Williams, Jr. is a legend in his own mind, and in the delusional minds of his uneducated, ignorant, racist fans
1st off who in the hell is "Hack" Williams Jr.? 2nd Uneducated, ignorant... I was the valedictorian of my graduating class, and I am currently an ATM student w/ a triple minor, carrying a 3.86 gpa true I guess that is uneducated and ignorant, 3rd racist, of course, if thats what you call having several close African American friends.
"he is not a part of county music's roots, HIS FATHER IS. ...the fact that he almost died in an avalanche, and DEMAGOGUERY to distract people from the fact that he sounds like a dying cow."
I strongly agree that his father was. And yes you are correct, HANK being a legend and part of country music's roots is subject to opinion. I base my opinion on the fact that many of today's (and past) TOP country music stars look to HANK for inspiration, as well as those involved in other generes of music. Let me enlighten you... Brad Paisley, Kid Rock, Alan Jackson, Lynard Skynard, Steven Tyler, Buddy Guy, Gretchen Wilson, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Shooter Jennings... I could go on. Just take a look at the CMT GIANTS episode on Hank, key word GIANTS. What do you base your opinion on RUSSELL?!
"He's not used to an alternative point of view where he comes from."
Your right Russell, Im not used to alternative point of views here at this extremely diverse University that I attend down here in Florida.
Enlighten me Russell on the specific lyrics in "If the South Would Have Won" that make it a "totally racist, pro-slavery song" I've searched high and low but can't find anything of the such, but then again I'm and ignorant, uneducated, white, racist, republican from the north... what do I know?
You must be one of those people who feel that the Civil War was solely fought on the basis of slavery. And I'd bet a million dollars that you get sick at the sight of a confederate flag. It's too bad that people like you view, southern hospitality, music, cooking, merchandise, ways of life such as hunting and fishing and beautiful southern women as racist. Dis here ol country bumpkin from da North jus caint get it, Could you please learn me Russell on how these here things r racist?
And who is this Shevron character you speak of RUSSELL?
Shevron Allen (above) says he would be here all night trying to refute this righteous analysis, so he decides to blow it off. I think that, subconsciously, he realizes that this analysis is so true that he would be up all week trying to refute it. But, let's cut him some slack. He's not used to an alternative point of view where he comes from.
If you punch in a search box "Hank Williams, Jr. and John McCain", and go to most of the websites that cover Hack's lame-ass "new" song, you will find that your opinion is not only not appreciated, but NOT ALLOWED if you don't have something good to say about Hack.
You see, where Shevron Allen comes from, there is no democracy, or freedom of speech, or respect for different opinions. It's like Fox News, baby--"FAIR AND BALANCED". As every day goes by, the right gets a little more wronger, while in total denial along the way to the point where they accuse the left of everything that THEY'RE DOING. One just has to wonder, how long can a large slice of the country LIVE with their heads up their aszes?
HACK Williams, Jr. is a legend in his own mind, and in the delusional minds of his uneducated, ignorant, racist fans. And, he is not a part of county music's roots, HIS FATHER IS. Hack is an example of when talent skips a generation. He relies on his relation to his father (his real name is NOT Hank Williams, Jr., it's Randall Hank Williams), the fact that he almost died in an avalanche, and DEMAGOGUERY to distract people from the fact that he sounds like a dying cow.
Example: "If the South Woulda Won", off of his 1989 "Wild Streak" album. I am a former fan of his, and I can tell you, he sings this totally racist, pro-slavery song with more gusto, more rowdiness, more sheer heartfelt VOLUME than any song before it or after it. THIS guy is the best John McCain and Sarah Palin could do in the way of "celebrity crooners" to represent their REAL AMERICAN VALUES. "That's not change we can believe in!"
The scariest part about this guy is that he sucked me in for YEARS, during my young life when I was uncertain about politics, and too naive to realize this guy was dangerous. I think, if he can suck me in, he can suck a lot of other people in just as easily.
This Shevron Allen takes a look at this anaylysis, and doesn't even bother to pay attention to the unrefutable FACTS about his hero, Hack. In kneejerk fashion, he skips right to, "Hank is a legend, and part of country music's roots." Even if that were true, which is SUBJECT TO OPINION, it has nothing to do with the fact that Hack is lying to his fans, and McCain's supporters, AND THE COUNTRY exhibiting the kind of treachery that only a remorseless racist is capable of.
And Shevron Allen exhibits the quintessential ignorant white southern Republican, who ignores the FACTS, and goes straight to IDEOLOGY. That's what we need: MORE TRUTHINESS!
Wow, I never knew that some people could ever be so ignorant about music, or anything for that matter.
... WOW , Hank - "who, apparently, is still alive" ... maybe someone should get their head out of that dark place beween their cheeks and see that Hank is a legend, and part of country music's roots.
There's so much to be said on this idiotic commentary, that I would be here all night and probably vomit beyond the point of dehydration, from having to read all this ludacris commentary and commenting on it.
So All I really want to say is... way to go on living up to the politically correct ideologies that people typically stereotype Dems as having. Good Job. Damn, I just got sick.
And I always am moved to vote by cleaned-up versions of songs about drinking and drug abuse.
i always make my political decisions based off of someone wearing a football jersey, and it's especially relevant if they got so ridiculously drunk at Sandstone a few years ago that they couldn't finish their own show. jolly good show.
