Octarium, evidently, is Latin for "eight as one." We're not sure what the title to the local vocal octet's new CD means, but Hodie recently made the voting list for the 51st Grammys. Saith the press release:

Octarium's album Hodie has been listed on the nominating ballot for the 51st Grammy Awards. There are 44 entries in Octarium's category (Best Small Ensemble Performance); this 44 will be narrowed down to the 5 official nominees through the voting on the current ballot. Octarium is, obviously, an underdog in a category that features known names like Chanticleer, Tallis Scholars and The Sixteen. But our music is every bit as good as theirs and it will take a grass roots effort to elevate Octarium to the top of that field in the voting.

So if you, dear reader, are a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, then get your hand out of that bag potato chips and vote Octarium! Preview the album here.

Fun Fact: Octarium isn't the only local vocal (I love that phrase) group to receive Grammy attention. The Kansas City Chorale took home gold at last year's Grammys.
