RYAN SEACREST MOVES TO KANSAS CITY
Entercom-Kansas City announces a powerful new radio station for women
(Mission, Kans.) - Entercom-Kansas City launched The All New 99.7 KISS-fm at 4 pm today with an all-star national talent line up including Ryan Seacrest afternoons (4-7pm), Kidd Kraddick mornings (6-10am), and Entercom's own Kim Iverson evenings (7-Midnight). The local midday host has not yet been named. The station will offer Kansas City women a blend of starpower, celebrity access, pop culture and TODAY'S HIT music.
Marconi Award-winning Radio Personality of The Year KIDD KRADDICK kicks off mornings on The All New 99.7 KISS-FM with his own unique blend of entertainment. Kraddick has been named America's Best Radio Personality at the WB Radio Music Awards.
RYAN SEACREST brings his popular "On-Air with RYAN SEACREST" Show to Kansas City afternoons with a unique blend of celebrity interviews, great music and fun. Seacrest, whose radio show is #1 in both LA and New York, was recently named TOP MAVERICK OF 2008 by Details Magazine and is listed on Forbes Magazine's 100 MOST POWERFUL CELEBRITIES.
Evening host KIM IVERSON loves to dish with the listeners she likes to call her girlfriends. Iverson promises to deliver a compelling program with topics of interest to women... life, love, fashion, food, relationships and reality... with a great blend of pop music.
"We are thrilled to add this exceptional talent line up and the Hot AC format to our already strong compilation of brands in our Kansas City cluster," says Entercom VP/Market Manager David Alpert. "In searching for a program director we wanted someone who was competitive and innovative with a proven track record. We have found the perfect candidate."
Award-winning program director JOHN COOK, who has worked with both Seacrest and Kraddick during stints at KIIS-FM in Los Angeles and KISS-FM in Dallas, respectively, takes the reins at The All New 99.7 KISS-FM effective immediately. Cook has the unique distinction of being nominated as Program Director of the year in both the Hot AC and Country music formats. Because of this unique skill set, Cook will be serving double-duty as program director of Entercom's country station 106-5 The Wolf. Says Cook, "I'm delighted to be joining the Entercom-Kansas City team and look forward to building two winning products. I want to thank Entercom management for giving me this opportunity in Kansas City."

I really like this new station. It is the only one that plays a mix of the old and new songs and most of the time does not continually yap and yap and yap.
BLVD rocked, KISS sucks. it must be for ladies because even my 17 year old son doesn't like this new format. Kidd yack in the morning is the worst ever - might be great in LA but stinks in KC. Some LA executive must have made this decision. All the people that say "the day the music dies" are right. I too have deleted this from my pre-sets and have switched over to country music to get away from all the POP top 40 crap.
No way will I listen to KISS....Bring back what works The BLVD
From the press release:
"Because of this unique skill set, Cook will be serving double-duty as program director of Entercom's country station 106-5 The Wolf."
What they really mean is that they found a schmuck to do two jobs so they can save money.
wow. we already have like 4 stations playing poppy, newest, chart toppers. we had only one other classic rock station. why the hell would you replace a great station with variety for another 96.5 5the buzz. Its sad that the "professionals" dont even understand supply and demand...i learned about it in 3rd grade. need tips? sorry bad punctuation, im typing on a cell phone.
Just what Kansas City needs, another radio station that plays crappy music! 99.7 FM is now gone from my pre-sets. Thank God my new car has XM!
After hearing Christmas music being played on Nov. 1 a few years ago I turned off my radio. When KYYS finalyy bit the dust I turned it back on to listen to the Boulevard. It was the best station in town. Now that I have found KISS FM I will be turning my radio off.

The day the music died.....at least in Kansas City.
What's next? Hiring Michael Jackson to play quarterback for the Chiefs?
Where's my iPod...........?
Once again I've got to change the radio pre-sets in my work truck. This may compel me to contribute more to KKFI to boost their signal.
Kansas City has no decent radio stations that is why it is considered a dumb hick town..
The Boulevard was the only decency in a crap radio station market.
Guess I have get my XM radio back out.
and terrestrial radio wonders why no one's listening anymore? I'd rather park my car in the garage and pull a "Robert Young" than listen to Seacrest or Kraddick.
Gone is the only station without inane DC chatter. I get up too late for KKFI's morning music. Guess it's finally time to get an Ipod.
DJ #1 - "I dropped my pencil."
DJ #2 - "Ha! Ha! Ha! That's the funniest thing I ever heard."
Me - "Why am I listening to this crap."
