When music bloggers started fawning over Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin in 2005, the first suitable reaction was Who? and the second, Why? While it was exciting to see a band from Springfield, Missouri, cause a stir, the group's debut LP, Broom, overall lacked the consistency of tasty bites like its single, "Oregon Girl." That all changed on SSLYBY's 2008 release, Pershing, which delivered a barrage of librarian-wetting catchiness on par with the Shins and Elliott Smith. The fact that it was criminally overlooked by much of the year-end press only goes to show that music critics are a fickle bunch. Don't fret - someone still loves you, SSLYBY.
