The Midwest Music Foundation, a newly formed group dedicated to boosting homegrown music and helping musicians in need, is kicking off its Stay Tuned concert series next Friday, May 8, at Davey's Uptown Ramblers Club.

Readers who have been following our coverage of Abigail Henderson and her Apocalypse Meow cause will already be familiar with MMF.

As I reported in the Victoria Williams round table session a couple of weeks ago, the MMF has been working to establish its 501(c)3 status and also to develop an Austin City Limits-style local TV show, which, I just learned, they're calling Live. Hear. Now. The show is slated for production sometime next year.

The first Stay Tuned concert to benefit the TV show's development features a solid lineup of old and new for your $7: stalwarts Mr. Marco's V7 and the Afterparty, with newer acts Hipshot Killer (fronted by former Architect Mike Alexander, with Hundred Years War bassist Chris Wagner) and Thee Water Moccasins (a new buzzworthy experimental group featuring members of Roman Numerals and Olympic Size), and headliner American Catastrophe. Show starts at 7 p.m.

Why aren't you people reporting that this group is ripping off the "Mutual Musicians Foundation" with their MMF logo? This ridiculous! The REAL MMF has been around for over 100 years! What a disgrace to do something like this to those people.
