Blues fans have reason to be glad this weekend -- and, to carry the pun further, cause to get stoned. The (mostly free) Gladstone BluesFest kicks off on Friday at Oak Grove Park in North Kansas City (76th and North Troost).
On Friday night starting at 6 p.m., see locals King King, northeast Missouri's B.J. Allen & Blue Voodoo and, all the way from Atlanta, the Chris Duarte Group.
Elsewhere on the metro, Crosstown Station and the Kansas City Blues Society are putting on an open jam every Tuesday night. A new band hosts each week through the end of the summer and beyond. This Tuesday, it's KC Kelsey Hill. Things get rollin' around 8 p.m.
If you want even more bang for your entertainment buck, Double Deuce Poker League games start at 7 and 10 p.m. upstairs in the Skylight Room at Crosstown. Add drink specials including $3 PBR tallboys, and it's like an adult funhouse at 16th and McGee.
