Japandroids live on KEXP at 2pm (Plus MP3)

Posted by Nick Spacek on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 1:20 PM

Japandroids will stop by KEXP today, Tuesday June 16 at 2pm Central Standard Time for an in-studio performance featuring favorites from its debut full-length, Post-Nothing (Polyvinyl/Unfamiliar). Listen on the web at KEXP dot org. That is roughly thirty minutes from now and would be a good preview of their show at the Record Bar on July 1

Japandroids is a two-piece band from Vancouver, BC. The band started in 2006 as a creative outlet for the post-teenage angst of Brian King and David Prowse. Originally intending to be a trio, the boys decided to forgo the logistical nightmare of having a lead singer and do it themselves. As a consequence, Japandroids are one guitar, one set of drums, and two vocalizers. They call it "garage rock." They don't care what you call it, as long as it's not minimal. Japandroids are maximal - a two-piece band trying to sound like a five-piece band. .

Not to be confused with the David Prowse who played Darth Vader. That dude was HUGE.

Not to be confused with fellow two-piece band Japanther, which opened for Dillinger Four last Friday.
