We have just received word that the Church has canceled their show this Friday at the VooDoo Lounge suddenly and unexpectedly. We don't have any details right now as to why, nor do we know whether co-headliner Adam Franklin will still perform See below. This entry will be updated as the info comes in.
Update, 12:49 p.m.
Here's the official word. Additionally, the entire bill has been canceled, so Adam Franklin won't be performing, either.
the church management and band regret to advise that due to scheduling conflicts and circumstances beyond our control the show scheduled to take place this Friday, June 19th at VooDoo Lounge (Harrah's Casino) in North Kansas City, MO has been cancelled. We'd like to extend a heartfelt apology to all of our fans that planned to see us in KC this Friday and rest assured that we plan to make up the date on the band's next go-around of the states.
Refunds are available at point of purchase.
Again, we sincerely regret any inconvenience that this may have caused those concerned. All other concerts on the "So Love May Find Us 2009 North American Tour" are going ahead as scheduled.
Showing 1-2 of 2
very disappointing. 2 of my favorite musicians. We won't see the Church for at least 2-3 more years and we are lucky Adam even attempted to come back to KC after a dismal turnout at the Record Bar.
The Church's Steve Kilbey posted an apology on his blog:

I can dig it. Disappointing, though. It's not like there's some other band you can go see that sounds quite like the Church.
I strongly recommend the latest Church disk, Untitled #23, as well as SK's latest solo disk, Painkiller, for those in need of a gold afternoon fix.
