Steve Kilbey "apologises" for Church cancellation

Posted by Jason Harper on Wed, Jun 17, 2009 at 3:44 PM

Normally, something like this wouldn't warrant a whole separate entry, but since lead singer and bassist Steve Kilbey apparently did an interpretive dance routine to illustrate his blogged apology for his band, the Church, cancelling its show here at the VooDoo, well, we think he deserves extra credit. Step in time, Steve!

Dance Move 1: "The Fetal-Down-Under" (or Untitled Dance Move #17)

Dance Move 2: "Kilburst!" (Untitled #23)

His apology in full:

k.c. got cancelled

it was a logistical nightmare

we would have to stay awake impossibly

and drive dangerously sleepy n tired

ok if you have a coach

it would have been foolish to attempt it

im sorry

im sorry to people who made travel arrangements

im sorry to people who were coming

we deeply apologise for any problems caused

i am very very tired

we drove 12 hours yesterday

still vibrating

no time to do anything

hopefully

a bigger better blog tomorrow

sk

The Church rocked Chicago last night. Sorry they missed KC in '09. Such talented musicians for oldies.

Did I mention that this band is a bunch of lazy, unprofessional jagoffs for cancelling the KC show, because it was getting in the way of their drug-fueled trek to Chicago? They dissed us and didn't deem KC "worthy" enough. They really better not EVER come back to KC as they are no longer WELCOME here. SCREW these has-beens!

They cancel the KC show, so they can make it to a bigger show in Chicago. The Church BLOWS!

At least they didn't cancel to do Letterman like Spoon did a couple years back.

and then we have the "North, South, East, West," which i imagine involves plenty of interpretive moves toward each nautical direction. as kilbey moves around the positions, the moves become increasingly dramatic and poignant.

Only if you canceled your show in the Horsehead Nebula at the last minute.

i would have liked to have seen the "Under the Milky Way." i imagine it involves cowering in fear under an imaginary, oppressive belt of stars.
