Get Up Kids Tickets On Sale Tomorrow

Posted by Nick Spacek on Wed, Jul 8, 2009 at 5:11 PM

The Get Up Kids are starting their big, full-on reunion tour right here in Kansas City. Following a number of instantly sold-out reunion shows at venues including New York's Gramercy Theater, Los Angeles' Troubadour and San Francisco's Great American Music Hall, the Get Up Kids have confirmed a full U.S. tour, starting September 11 at Harrah's VooDoo Lounge.

The 10th anniversary deluxe reissue of its landmark second album, Something To Write Home About, comes out September 8 on Vagrant Records. No details as to the specifics of the release, but it's supposed to contain a bonus DVD, photo book and more.

The presale begins tomorrow, July 9, right here. Considering the madness that occurred when they played their surprise show at the Record Bar, the speed at which the shows mentioned above have sold out, and the band's general all-around "icon" status in these parts, you might want to get tickets early. This will be a sell-out.

Casino trappings aside, the Voodoo Lounge can be a great place to see a show: good sightlines, crystal-clear sound. Lucinda Williams' show there in June was possibly the best-sounding show I've ever seen. It's probably a pretty rough drive there from Lawrence, though.
