Skavoovie & the Epitones Back Together, Less the Epitones

Seems like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones aren't the only '90s ska band back together and in the studio. Newton, Massachusetts' Skavoovie & the Epitones were one of the few '90s ska acts not to go punk or traditional, instead creating a hybrid of ska, jazz, and swing. They are now simply known as Skavoovie--no need for the Epitones, they say. Their brand aged much better than the majority of albums from that third wave of ska. It actually sound pretty timeless, and I'm thinking Ripe's going to be the soundtrack to the next time we have folks over for dinner.

Anyhow, the band's back together, and working on their first album in a decade. Songs being worked on include a "pro-wrestling inspired tune 'The Main Event'," as well as "2 zombie reggae numbers."
