This is sure to be the metal show with the most interesting crowd ever. I've seen Mastodon before, and they draw hipsters, punks, indie kids, and the usual long-haired metal dudes with long hair and beards (sometimes indistinguishable from hipsters and indie kids). Dethklok draws a lot of the same crowd, with the added bonus of comic book geek shut-ins who don't bathe too terribly often (often indistinguishable in odor from the crustier of the punks, and visually from the more arty of the hipsters).
Their common thread? People who smoke pot and love Tolkien.
The show goes down at the Uptown Theatre on October 12. Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster beginning Friday, August 7, at 10 am.
