Incoming: Placebo at the Beaumont, September 27

Posted by Nick Spacek on Wed, Aug 12, 2009 at 3:38 PM

Placebo, who for some reason are now on Vagrant Records, come to Kansas City for a date at the Beaumont Club on September 27.

I mean, I understand Thrice. I maybe understand HORSE: the band. But Placebo? The only song they ever released as a single is one of the few songs guaranteed to make me switch the station when listening to the radio (other contenders are Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy" and "Bound For the Floor" by Local H).

Yet, it seems that this is Placebo's sixth album, and they've been together for nearly 15 years. Somebody's buying their records. If it's you, then congratulations, here's a show for you. Everyone else, you may return to your indifference.

I heard this show wasn't happening on the 27th and that it was being rescheduled.

Jeepers, what a sarcastic post! I think their sound fits pretty well with Vagrant, actually. A lot of their material (27 singles, not just one) has much more of a pop-punk flavor than "Pure Morning" does.
