When you consider the fact that Boo & Boo Too and Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk share several members (Boo & Boo Too has BBDM's members, plus two more), it's unsurprising that the two bands are releasing a split 7" entitled Baby Boo.
It comes out tonight on Lovely Sea Records, and you can pick it up at Love Garden as part of the record release party being held there. Five bucks gets you into the show and a copy of the record.
I'm really looking forward to this, because early shows mean I can actually get to bed at a decent hour. No, seriously...two local bands releasing a split single is pretty awesome and the sort of thing that used to happen all the time. The fact that an actual vinyl single is news sort of saddens me, but I still really want this sucker in my hands and shortly after that, on my turntable. Both bands are inventive without being pretentious, interesting without being boring, and that makes for a good way to spend five dollars.
And the flier? Hand-drawn art, especially in color, is just so eye-catching. Even if this hadn't been at the top of the steps when I got to Love Garden, it would have grabbed me from any window it was in. Gorgeous work.

Here is a flier I made for Victor-imprinted Dur-O-Lite mechanical pencils. Dur-O-Lites really are Quick As a Wink! It's gonna be a great night of mechanical pencil usin' in my Dur-O-Lite-lovin' household.
The cover art for the 7" is actually surprisingly beautiful. I was expecting more of the hand-cut weirdo collage stuff from the Baby Birds releases but it's, well, it's just fucking cool and I really want it.
Here's the one I made for our show tonight at the Jazzhaus. It's just down the street from the Boo & Boo Too/Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk show so swing on by when that one's over. Or check out my friend and old bandmate John Momberg's band the Dactyls at the Jackpot. Man, it's gonna be a good night to see some live music in Lawrence.
