KU Student Competes For Shot at the VMAs

Thanks to some savvy cross-promotion between Pepsi and MTV, a bunch of KU students are going to the Pepsi website and watching videos, all while thinking about drinking sweet, sweet pop.

MTV's got the Video Music Awards coming up next month, and as if the near-constant West Side Story themed ads weren't enough, they've got a contest going, where viewers can win the "Best Performance in a Pepsi Rock Band Video" by submitting a video featuring both Pepsi (natch) and Rock Band (coincidently owned by MTV). Shane Reynolds, a freshman at the University of Kansas, has done just that.

His video, entitled "Nerds In Diguise," and features Lit's "My Own Worst Enemy." It's an old-school style video, much in the vein of "Fight For Your Right." It even has that slightly grainy look you'd expect from a video store clearance bin copy of Revenge of the Nerds. Considering the group is up against a trio of bosomy young lasses performing Joan Jett, you may wish to head over to Pepsi Rock Band and see if you can't help Reynolds out with a vote or two (or more -- you can vote up to ten times after registering) between now and when voting ends on September 1.

I had no problem whatsoever voting for the trio of bosomy young lasses, which is actually just one bosomy young lass who did the world an extraordinary favor by cloning herself.

Sorry, Shane.
