Get well soon, Wayward Son.

Per the Topeka Examiner, original Kansas guitarist Kerry Livgren -- author of classics "Dust in the Wind" and "Carry On Wayward Son" -- suffered a stroke yesterday morning is in serious but stable condition at a hospital in his home of Topeka, Kansas, according to yesterday's Examiner article.

In 1980, three years before his 13-year-run with Kansas would end, Livgren became an evangelical Christian. He has released Christian-themed, largely orchestral rock albums ever since, some solo and some as leader of the bands A.D. and Proto-Kaw. You can find find out more about Livgren's musical history at the site for his label, Numavox, as well as sample audio clips from his various projects.

Four years ago, when I was an angry young man, I interviewed Livgren, and I published

a "Wayward Son" column that took issue with some of his political views, among other things. But I was just givin' the ol' boss shit. (He actually left a voicemail after that article came out, offering to hit me with a pie!)

All us here at the Wayward Blog send the original Wayward Son much respect and best wishes for a thorough recovery and fast return to rockin'.

Holy Lord
God of power and Might
shine your Light upon Kerry Livgren
in healing grace touch him and heal
for the truth and the way and the life
as you promise in John 14:14 ask in Jesus name
and it shall be done, I ask in Jesus name for Kerry to be healed
amen amen amen.+++
