When their show at the Beaumont on September 30 was first announced, the opener for Tortoise was originally Chicago's Pit Er Pat. That has changed, and Prefuse 73 will take their place.
I don't know about you, but this show just changed from a "maybe" to a "must see." Prefuse 73's crazy-ass glitch-hop is a far better counterpoint than Pit Er Pat's indie free jazz, because -- and let's just be honest -- Pit Er Pat sounds an awful lot like Tortoise, and while I enjoy that, two bands' worth of improvisational, jazz-inspired indie rock might just be a little bit much.

it definitely made the $18 ticket price a little easier to swallow.
also, not sure if you've all seen this or not, but mtv is reporting Roc Raida, DMC turntablist and member of the X-Ecutioners, died over the weekend following a "mixed martial arts" incident.
