Video: Teenage Bottlerocket Covered on Ukulele

Posted by Nick Spacek on Thu, Oct 15, 2009 at 12:00 PM

My new favorite way to find fun crap on the Internet is to go to YouTube and punch in "[band name] cover." The results that appear are usually kids with digital cameras recording themselves playing along on drums, bass, guitar, or whatever. Occasionally, you'll get major bands covering their influences, or minor bands tossing off big name hits.

However, my favorite result is when I discover someone who's decided to translate a song into a totally different thing -- metal covers of pop numbers, acoustic folk renditions of NWA songs, etc. In this case, it's Teenage Bottlerocket's "In the Basement" with ukulele and female vocals. It's prettier than I ever would have guessed. You might have to strain to hear the girl on the bed singing, but it's worth it.

See the original after the jump.
