This is going to get really complicated really quick, so pay attention.
Zechs Marquise features Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (who also plays in the Mars Volta) and bassist Marfred Rodriguez-Lopez. They're brothers, obviously. Now, Zechs Marquise is a side project of the Mars Volta, and where it gets kind of complicated is the fact that the band is touring with Free Moral Agents, which is a collective of musicians founded by the Mars Volta's keyboardist Isaiah "Ikey" Owens.
What gets even weirder is that both Zechs Marquise and Free Moral Agents have toured as openers for the Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Band, which is the band of lead guitarist and Mars Volta co-founder Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. Why they even bother with separate names is beyond me.
