Anthony Glise, adjunct faculty member at Missouri Western State University and head of the guitar department at the University of Missouri, Columbia, speaks at Café Acoustic in St. Jospeh on Thursday, November 5, at 7:00pm.
The title of his free talk will be "Performance Rights and Copyrights - Making Royalties in the Music Industry," which is sure to be of great use to any musician in the area. It's a bit of a trek to St. Joseph, but Glise will discuss "the difference between copyright protection for musicians and registering your original music with performance rights organizations to insure royalty payment from live, radio and television performances."
In other words, if you'd like to have your music legally protected in some way other than the poor man's copyright (which isn't legally binding, really), and thus get paid, you'd do well to attend. Here's your advance notice. Now you've no excuse to not attend.
