Black Wine's last date with the Meat Puppets is the Chicago date immediately preceding the Record Bar stop on November 13. Even though I'm completely upset they're not playing here, and we're missing them by one lousy day, I can be happy with the fact that I got some advance MP3s of their forthcoming, as-yet-unnamed debut, due out December 15 on Don Giovanni.
What makes Black Wine so great is that: A) The songs sound like vintage college rock and B) The band features former guitarist for the Ergs! Jeff Schroek, along with Miranda Taylor and J Nixon of Hunchback. Hopefully, they'll come through here soon.
