The Beatles Never Broke Up?

Posted by Nick Spacek on Mon, Nov 9, 2009 at 12:00 PM

In what might have to be the craziest way to introduce a DJ mix to the world, we have the website The Beatles Never Broke Up. Alternate universes are involved, as are head injuries to the man who found the tape, James Richards (or so he wishes to be called). In the alternate reality to which Richards traveled, the Beatles never broke up, and are in fact still together and performing. As the front page explains:

On Sept. 9, 2009 I experienced something that I still am having trouble believing happened to me. I came into the possession of a cassette tape containing a Beatles album that was never released.

I don't expect you to believe what happened to me, I sure wouldn't, but thats why I grabbed the tape as proof that my experience was real.

You can piece together the actual story from the site's FAQ, namely that this is "a collection of previous Beatles and post break up albums from this dimension mixed into new songs."

The music's pretty good, and put together with the story, it's a fairly entertaining way to kill an hour or so. Well played, Mr. Richards...well played.

Download Everyday Chemistry.

To offer a slightly different opinion than the one from Luther, I just want to let you all know that if you enjoy the idea of having a new set of recordings about which you can fantasize were recorded by the Fab Four sometime around the early 80s, then this is for you. It helps if you like mashups, however, as this album unintentionally serves as a companion piece to The Beatles' own 'Love' album. In some ways, it's actually superior to 'Love' in that 'Everyday Chemistry' was intended and executed with the mashup knob turned all the way to eleven. The tracks on 'Love' were mashed up only as the accompanying stage show necessitated they be. Without the Vegas visuals, the 'Love' album often just seems like another reissue of rehash that fails to fully deliver on its remix potential. With this new underground release, you'll never feel like one song ever takes over any of the tracks. Enough room was left in each cut to fit John, Paul, George, and Ringo, all playing together, even if only across the parallel universe.

Okay, Seriously...I just heard some of what was claimed to be a Beatle's album from another dimension...WTF. Really? It plays like a bad techno/disco mix out of George Martin's nightmare. You think Phil Specter was instrumental in ruining a perfectly good Let It Be...but this is Dog Shit. I think this guy had a great idea, when it was called The Beatles do circus soele (spelling?). I'm not French. I really think dude...you need to be original...But really, tell that to Little Richard, Buddy Guy, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, and Chuck Berry...just to name a few.
