Barrakuda McMurder is a band of which you've never heard, who sound pretty much like frontman Grath Madden's earlier band, the Steinways, of whom who've also probably never heard. I might have mentioned them within these pages before, but that's because I recently rediscovered pop-punk a year or two back, and have since discovered an underground loaded with great bands.
Barrakuda McMurder have a name that's so awful and awesome it becomes awe-full. They play tight, catchy little tunes, and this EP could easily be listened to while boiling Ramen. It's over fast, but it's free, so what are you going to complain about there? Granted, their actual EP for which one would pay money, Slow Crawl, isn't much longer.
The title, More Songs About Girlfriends & Volcanoes, is a play on More Songs About Girlfriends & Bubblegum, which is another remarkably short EP from Dillinger Four. The four songs were recorded with Phrank Martian from Fitzie's Pub in Binghampton, New York.
