Rockin' the Chamber of Commerce

Posted by Jason Harper on Tue, Dec 8, 2009 at 9:37 AM

Today, friends, I am honored to be taking part in a panel discussion organized by the Centurions Leadership Program of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. The Centurions program is designed "to prepare a representative cross section of the community's emerging leaders for their role in shaping the future of Kansas City."

Today, the Centurions -- comprising several dozen local business leaders from various disciplines -- are focusing on the local music industry. They're attending two discussion panels and a day full of events that culminates with the Good Foot playing and everybody getting loaded ... full of information!

This morning's panel is titled "The Economics of Rock" and will be moderated by Mike Hurd of the Dowtown Council, who will put questions to Brenda Tinnen of the Sprint Center, Brett Mosiman of Pipeline Productions and Tim Finn, pop music critic of the Star.

I am moderating the afternoon panel at Crosstown Station. Called "You Wanna Rock? Follow Me," it will tap the brains of Chip Mitchell of Crosstown Station, Bill Sundahl of Spice of Life Productions and Jeff Fortier of Live Nation.

Unfortunately, the events are closed to the public, but to commemorate the events, I've thrown together a special mixtape chock full of local greatness that anyone can download. It's only going to be up today, though, so don't miss your chance to download it below, along with the CD insert as PDF. (Tracklist after the jump.)
