Dig deeper on The Horrors. Psychocandy-era J&M Chain was much more a wall of sound. The Girls record had a few tracks I really liked but the overall recording became dull. YLT was strong as usual, but nothing different to warrant a nod, in my opinion. I like The Lips record a lot but haven't spent enough time with it.
Ah, another bastard who hates Yoshimi and loves Embryonic! Just kidding. I liked Embryonic, but not that much.
I have not heard of "The Dill check it
KKFI's Mid-day Medley is covering the 100 best of the year Wednesday's at 10 a.m.
I think the Horrors just sound like the Jesus and Mary Chain (Psychocandy era) and don't get them and I wasn't that impressed with the latest eels'.
I think Girls, Yo La Tengo and Flaming Lips should be in the top 10. "Embryonic" is so much better than their last release and it would be great to see them get away from being the sideshow circus and getting back to the music. End of rant.
