Incoming: the Black Eyed Peas at the Sprint Center, March 24

Posted by Nick Spacek on Mon, Dec 14, 2009 at 10:00 AM

Ridiculously popular pop group the Black Eyed Peas roll into town this spring, performing at the Sprint Center on March 24. The group is amazingly polarizing, with people falling either on the "They're fucking awesome!" or "Kill me -- kill me now" ends of the spectrum, with little in-between to be had. Stupid damned catchy songs -- seriously, I cannot stand the group, but Will.i.am knows how to make songs that work into your brain like a goddamned Babel fish.

Suffice it to say, the band is just about one of the biggest things in music right now. When you figure it was either "Boom Boom Pow" or "I Gotta Feeling" holding the number one position on the charts for a full half of the year, this is probably a show that's going to be what they refer to as a "big deal."

Electro/hip-hop/pop/whatever group LMFAO open, and tickets go on sale today at noon. They can be had right effin' here.

@ Abe, if you haven't met one of their fans it means you are hanging out with the right people LOL

Will.i.am is a notorious thief too. Most notably he assumed Daft Punk would be okay with him sampling of their tracks (Around the World) for a shitty remix of I Got It From My Mama.

He went ahead and recorded the song AND shot a video only to find out (thank god) that Daft Punk wanted nothing to do with him.

He thievery extends way beyond that though, stealing hooks, samples, etc. Fuck that dude and B.E.P.

That "I Gotta Feeling" song is pretty bad, but Lil Wayne kills it on his "No Ceilings" remix album. Just saying...

I'm convinced this band has no fans and only exists to be in commercials. I've never met one person that bought one of their albums. If they fill the Sprint Center, I'll still be convinced they don't have fans, just paid actors and extras given free tickets to keep up the ruse.
