As we reported yesterday, thePhantom had his Destroy & Rebuild CD-release party last night at the Scion Lab. From the pictures Sike Style was kind enough to share with us today, looks like it pretty much destroyed. View all the pics here.
For our purposes, we asked a friend who was there what she thought of the backing band, Mouth. Because, after all, anytime we mention the band on this blog, their fans jump all over us like hippies on a game of hacky sack. Here's what she said:
When left to their own devices, they creep too far into the jam-band-dorks category for me. But as a funky, live back-up band for someone like thePhantom, they're absolutely incredible. They add a LOT to a hip-hop performance. But they played some songs before thePhantom came out that made me want to get a hula hoop and twirl around on ecstasy, and then jump in front of traffic.
Were you there? What'd you think? Good time?

MOUTH in the "Jamband dorks" catagory? Hardly! Maybe just an unknown style of music for some. I appreciate the musical tunes of MOUTH. On thier own AND alongside a hip-hop performance. But, that's just me, the "Hippie jumpin' on a game of hacky sack"...Does anyone that attended this party appreciate any other styles in the musical realm than hip-hop? It amazes me how some just can't FEEL the rhythm to different types of genres. This was a fabulous performance by The Phantom*, and MOUTH is perfect for backup instrumentals. Get with the program, people! And don't be so quick to judge what you obviously know nothing about!
This show was phenomenal. Everyone there had this positive energy that was literally palpable. Met some cool new people there and definitely had a phenomenal time.
This show was INCREDIBLE. The most packed I've ever seen that place. Huge thanks to thePhantom* for setting it all up and inviting us to play. I had a lot of fun.
