Making the collector nerd sweat

Posted By on Wed, Jan 6, 2010 at 12:49 PM

Having recently rediscovered the fact that Alkaline Trio's Goddammit is probably one of my favorite albums of the '90s, I'm actually looking forward to the emo-punk three piece's new album, This Addiction.

The title is actually fitting, considering the wide variety of pre-orders Epitaph posted in their merch store today. There are seven different ways you can pre-order This Addiction, with the most ridiculous coming in at a whopping $54.99 (plus shipping!). For that wad of cash, you get the following:

· One of every pressed copy from the first pressing. 500 are pressed on green, 1000 are on dark, and the remainder are on solid black vinyl. Bundles get first priority on the rarest color vinyl and only a limited number of these are available.

· A copy of the Hot Topic pre-release exclusive "This Addiction" 7" in stores February 9th.

· One copy of This Addiction Deluxe CD/DVD featuring the full album with bonus material and the DVD "Live At The House Of Blues, Las Vegas, NV. 2008"

· An Alkaline Trio shirt exclusive to this pre-order. This shirt is printed on a vintage black, slimfit, ringspun cotton shirt with discharge print.

· A Free This Addiction poster

· A Free This Addiction sticker

· Access to the deluxe album download prior to street date.

So, that's three copies of the album on LP, a copy on CD, and a download? Perhaps that's overkill, but then again -- I never know. Maybe I just don't love music enough. I'll just wait until the Alk3 boys play the Granada on February 26, and buy it direct from the band.
