Public radio loves the Carolina Chocolate Drops

Carolina Chocolate Drops's debut on Nonesuch, Genuine Negro Jig, comes out today, and the group has done what we in the journalistic profession refer to as a "shitload" of press for the album -- a lot of which has been on National Public Radio.

First of all, they appeared on Mountain Stage back in January, wherein the band demonstrates their old-time string band sound, as well as branching out with a cover of Blu Cantrell's "Hit 'Em Up Style." The band also performed that song when they appeared on A Prairie Home Companion when it stopped at Starlight back in 2007, which you can listen to on the show's website.

As if that wasn't enough, the trio was on All Things Considered last night, where Melissa Block interviewed them and they played three songs (one of which, "Cornbread & Butterbeans," is fast becoming the band's signature number).

Hit those three shows up, and you'll have a nice little primer of Carolina Chocolate Drops' sound, and be nice and primed to go pick that sucker up. I've been waiting two and a half years.
