If you make a promise to not lie to the government when they come through on this year's census, the group Voto Latino will give you 25 free songs. As one might guess from the group's name, they're aiming for Latino voters, but anyone willing to sign up on this form gets access to an iTunes link for a free compilation.
The lineup for the comp is pretty diverse. You've got artists who might be defined as "classic" Latino artists such as Los Tigres del Norte or Ruben Blades, alongside what might be described as the more modern sounds of Ozomatli and Pitbull. There's also left-field inclusions like Morrissey and Os Mutantes.
Voto Latino's mission is as follows:
Voto Latino seeks to maximize American Latino youth civic involvement by generating voter turnout and increasing political involvement among this group. Voto Latino's work ranges from grassroots voter registration drives to multimedia pop culture awareness campaigns that serve one goal: to enfranchise young Latinos in American society.
And if they're informing young adults about cool new music in the process, so much the better.

morrissey has a HUGE latino/mexican fanbase and continues to, to this day. (chuck klosterman wrote a big article in spin some years ago about it too.)
him being a spokesperson for the census is actually totally dead-on -- he's absolutely worshipped, he's a hero.
I don't think the Morrissey inclusion is as out of left field as you might initially think. I read a story (found it: http://www.ocweekly.com/2002-0... a few years back about this huge contingency of Latinos that are obsessed with Morrissey and The Smiths.
