For KC transplants to the Lone Star State, SXSW has the potential this year to seem like a homecoming. The Midwasteland Takeover takes over Austin's Canvas Bar & Gallery from March 18-20, bringing a slew of Kansas City's best and brightest. The website has the full lineup and schedule.
As if that wasn't enough, there'll be beer and CDs for the taking. The website will soon have music from every artist available for download, but to get you all hyped, you can take a look at the comp's track listing below. The whole thing was curated by Sonic Spectrum's Robert Moore and mastered by Duane Trower, and the line-up is diverse, yet quite representative of what Kansas City has to offer the music world at large.

Robert, sorry that term came from the press release we sent out.
And yeah, Abe, what Robert says!
More tracks from more of the artist will soon be available on www.midwestmusicfound.org
If you are headed to Austin, please check out this showcase and tell everyone you know. Everyone involved has worked incredibly hard to give Kansas City artists a chance to show their music at SXSW.
"Curating" the sampler isn't the proper term. I chose from the bands that are playing the showcase and did the sequencing. The showcase was curated by Steve Tulipana and Billy Smith. And, Abe... This is good for the scene regardless if you're a fan of some of the artists invloved. Don't be such a dick.
