In keeping with the bombardment of '90s nostalgia that Kansas City has been battered with lately (Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.), now you've got yet another reason to resurrect your grunge records, unwashed hair and plaid-n-workboots ensemble this summer: Pearl Jam is hitting the Sprint Center on Monday, May 3.

Pearl Jam News: Pearl Jam talks Digestive Disease http://bit.ly/egAUaE
Greetings. Very good theme you have got there. I'm just trying to find the right theme for my own blog - where did you pick up this design? is it free or paid for? Regards.
This show went on sale a while ago. It is not sold out yet. But nice try to equate them with some corporate pop act that does sellout three minutes after going on sale. PJ hasn't been that popular since the grunge era. The people who do follow them are dedicated fans, not folks looking for the next flavor of the month. Good news for you though. You can still get a ticket. Maybe you'll write a show review in the next Pitch saying what a great show it was and how it was a good bill.
Maybe it isn't Pearl Jam's goal to have someone open for them that sounds exactly like them. Wouldn't that be a little boring? Maybe it is to help promote an up and coming band, just like certain bands did for them in the day. Or maybe they just dig them and want them on tour with them. Or maybe they think that their fans might like Band of Horses.
Obviously this writer hasn't listened to anything besides Ten. Apparently it's his opinion that you can't keep making music after the era that you were first successful in has ended. (Even if you do everything you can to disown that era. As PJ has done, even in Era Grunge).
Just a heads up: Eddie and the band's writing style (especially Ed's solo stuff) has turned to a more folksy bent. Just listen to 'Off He Goes' on 'No Code'. And that was released years ago.
Would you think it was weird if BOH went on tour with Bob Dylan? Or Neil Young? No. I'm not saying Pearl Jam is Bob Dylan or NY. But listening to their recent albums it is clear that both are an inspiration.
So maybe a music writer should do what a music writer should do and maybe listen to some music.
man, Band of Horses is an amazing band. Pearl jam is the greatest but BOH can bring down da house!
Anon, at least Sleater-Kinney and Ted Leo legitimately rock out. Try to imagine BOH's sweet, wide-eyed tracks like "The Funeral" or "No One's Gonna Love You" in conjunction with, well, Pearl Jam.
It's weird.
Perhaps it's just me?
Yeah, we saw Sleater Kinney open for them when Vedder was Bush-bashing (W). Throwing them in with Stone Temple Pilots is unfair. And Pearl Jam never had a junkie, unless you count Mother Love Bone's Andrew Wood.
