Incoming: Blitzen Trapper

Posted by Elke Mermis on Wed, Mar 24, 2010 at 3:01 PM

Bouncy folk-rockers Blitzen Trapper may be taking a turn towards a more somber aesthetic. (They're also taking a turn towards our hometown, but I'll get to that in a minute.) The Portland, Oregon sextet is venturing into new territory with their forthcoming release, the weirdly-metal-titled Destroyer of the Void. From what we hear, it's a far cry (or howl, rather) from the earthy, Southern folk tone of their 2008 release, Furr. You can download a new track from the album called "Heaven and Earth." The record is due out on June 8, and it will release in the middle of the band's U.S. tour. They'll swing by the Record Bar on June 22.
