Jeriney is the host of 96.5FM's "Homegrown Buzz," which is the last man standing in terms of your chance to regularly hear local music featured on the radio (yes, yes -- KJHK has it in rotation, but Plow the Fields died a slow death several years ago, and the station no longer has a showcase). The program features tons of in-studio guests, and spotlights all kinds of local artists every Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Jeriney was kind enough to put together a playlist of some local tracks that she's into right now.
This was a lot harder than I thought it would be!! There are so many great songs that it was very difficult to narrow it down to just a few. Here we go...some of the local songs I'm listening to (in no particular order!).
Olympic Size, "Fuego"
This song is haunting. As soon as it starts with the guitar and then the rest of the band joins in it gives me goose bumps! Download track

I don't know what it is about this song, but it's been stuck in my head for weeks! There's so much feeling in the lyrics and a great hook. Download track
Soft Reeds, "This Affair"
This is a band that I heard about over and over and have just recently had the privilege of seeing live. Amazing! Download track
Heroes & Villains, "Second Thoughts"
It amazes me what these guys do as a 3 piece. Every time you listen to it you'll hear something new and will find yourself singing it for days. Download track
