While every record store in the Kansas City and Lawrence area is going to be offering sales and exclusive stuff to buy (I recommend tracking down Vanguard's reissue of the first Doc Watson album) for Record Store Day tomorrow, you might want to direct yourself to a few places where you'll get a little extra in terms of entertainment.
Zebedee's RPM on 39th has live performances from Deadman Flats and Shram.
Streetside Records in Westport will have live music from noon to 5:00 p.m. Monta, Max Justus, SurroundHer, Motorboater, Restless Breed, and Box The Compass are all playing. Monta will have a limited edition version of Fuoco Infernale for the event. The release, which is all-new material as a 5-inch vinyl CD-R in a wooden case, is also Italian for "hellfire."
Vinyl Renaissance has in-store entertainment, but the acts have yet to be determined.
Over in Lawrence, Kief's Downtown Music plays host to Lydia Loveless, a cowpunker of a young lady (also playing the next evening at the Replay, if you happen to enjoy what you hear). Kansas City's garage-rockers Bleach Bloodz also play, with everything kicking off at 3:30 p.m.
