A cavalcade of classic local punk on Youtube

Posted by Nick Spacek on Fri, Apr 23, 2010 at 4:00 PM

Roger Holden, formerly of Lawrence's Red and the Necks, has been uploading footage from a 25-year-old show at the Lawrence Opera House (now Liberty Hall). The details:

Bill Rich's Battle of the Bands Rejects show at the Lawrence Opera House, May 1st 1985. The Rejects show was a response to the fact that KU's sound alternative radio station KJHK was ignoring hardcore noisy punk-like bands for its annual Battle of the Bands show that year. The Rejects show strongly reinforced the pride of Lawrence's outrageous noisy bands and helped motivate the continuation of that musical movement in Lawrence.

Up thus far are videos from Red and the Necks, Gardrails, and Near Death Experience, which you can find at Holden's Youtube page. I am awaiting the O.D.'s footage most eagerly.
